The Oaks Hotel harks back to a time when the pace of life was slower, the inclination to smile at strangers, swifter, gentlemen doffed their hats and when genteel quality and service were a matter of pride.
The moment you set foot on the entrance hall’s parquet floors, you will get a sense of the warm and relaxed atmosphere, and this is reflected throughout the hotel, from the period styled bedrooms, dining room with stunning views, to the cosy bar area.
Tim and Anne Riley have been professional hoteliers all their working lives and have owned and honed The Oaks since 1985. Their love of the art of hospitality with traditional values are reflected in the décor, service and ambience. Though having said that, they do realise the importance of staying connected to the outside world, so free wi-fi is available throughout the hotel.
Although the philosophy at The Oaks has never been to actively chase awards, they are very proud to have maintained Red Stars, the AA's top award for outstanding hotels for the past 20 consecutive years. It also features in Alistair Sawday, The Good Hotel Guide & Michelin with a red entry.
"A lovely old-fashioned world of spoiling bedrooms, delicious food and first-class service with Exmoor on one side and the sea on the other."
